Dear Mustang Families,

On behalf of the entire Doctors Inlet Elementary school staff, I am happy to welcome you to this upcoming school year! The scholars and teachers worked very hard last school year with teaching best practices to keep our school in a high performing status!  We will be celebrating with the students all their hard work this year and creating new goals. Our new goals this year will continue to improve learning and teaching instructional practices to ensure your child receives the best possible educational experience! We want Doctors Inlet to be the best school in the county!

We are going to grow into the 7 mindsets celebrating students and their accomplishments this year.  Students will be celebrated with Mustang Mindsets Matter and have the opportunity to engage in valuable learning opportunities.  They will be successful members of our MustangFamily.  We also teach students that Mustangs are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe with our guidelines for success.  We teach students those expectations throughout the year to help them become successful members of our community.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and your families this year.  After graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Varying Exceptionalities, I began teaching.  Two years later, I returned to UNF for a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.   For the past 19 years, I have been a teacher, team leader, teacher of the year for GPE, and an administrator helping Clay County Schools achieve greatness. I have experience teaching every grade from Pre-K -12th grade.  During my time at Grove Park Elementary and Lake Asbury Junior High I helped to improve their school grades.  My knowledge of rigor, small group instruction, differentiation, and student accountability have been integral in laying the foundation for high performing students.  I look forward to continuing the movement of excellent education in Clay County schools and at Doctors Inlet Elementary.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or needs in regards to DIS.

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our scholars can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your scholar’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our scholar’s success and want you to know that we will carry out our responsibilities.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

2) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

3) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

4) Know that you expect him/her to succeed in school.

Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our scholars can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:

1) Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom

2) Reading with children who need extra help

3) School-wide events

4) Student recognition events

5) Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers.

The wonderful DIS staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

 Carolyn Ayers, Principal

Assistant Principal, Jocelyn Farber

Dear Families,

Welcome! I am excited to serve as the assistant principal at Doctors Inlet. It is a joy to come here each day and partner with amazing teachers & staff as we work together to serve our families and community. Whether students are learning in their classrooms, receiving support from an assistant, taking part in our after school club program, or conducting experiments in a lab, every adult on campus is committed to learning, caring for children and families, and cultivating academic excellence.

We’ve seen exciting updates and changes at Doctors Inlet over the last few years. Cafeteria renovations, front office remodel, updated resources in our media center, 1 to 1 Chromebooks for students, and a new mural are a few of the physical changes you’ll see when you walk on our campus. With a school community committed to academic excellence, we earned an “A” school grade by FLDOE in the 2021-2022 school year. Because our teachers are committed to PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports), we were recognized at a 2022 School Board Meeting for being a PBIS Model School. Our students demonstrate our school wide expectations: Mustangs are respectful, responsible, and safe.

We are grateful for the students and families of Doctors Inlet. It truly takes a village and we know that working together, we can continue to accomplish great things. Thank you for investing in your children, for partnering with us, and we look forward to the future for all of our Mustangs! If I can help you in any way, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Jocelyn Farber
